Formed in 1982, W.A.S.P. is an American heavy metal band that rose out of the early Los Angeles metal scene.

They have sold more than 12 million records worldwide, with their first two releases, W.A.S.P. (1984) and The Last Command (1985), both achieving gold certification from the RIAA.

Recognized for their shock rock–inspired imagery, lyrics, and theatrical live shows, W.A.S.P.’s impact continues to resonate throughout the heavy metal genre today.
