Melina León is a Puerto Rican singer and actress. She is widely recognized as one of the leading female voices in tropical music, particularly in the merengue genre. Melina began her career at a young age, performing in local groups such as Las Cheris, the rubi, and girls of Puerto Rico before launching her solo career in 1997 with her debut album mujeres liberadas, which achieved success on billboard’s tropical charts. She gained further recognition with hit albums like con Los pies sobrela tierra, baño de luna, and corazón de mujer, the latter reaching no. 1 on the billboard tropical chart. Throughout her career, she has earned multiple award nominations and won a premio lo nuestro for best female tropical artist in 2010. With over two decades in the industry, Melina León continues to be a strong presence in latin music, known for her powerful voice, energetic performances, and contributions to Puerto Rican tropical music.
