FLiFF to Donate a Portion of the Proceeds to Assist Victims of Hurricane Michael
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will host the 33rd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival’s opening night festivities at the Hard Rock Event Center on Friday Nov. 2, 2018. The evening includes the East Coast Premiere of the swashbuckling comedy The Return of the Hero and a post-screening soiree with a French flair that includes scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.
Directed by Laurent Tirard (Molière), The Return of the Hero pairs Oscar® winner Jean Dujardin, (The Artist) as dashing swindler Captain Neuville and Mélanie Laurent (Inglorious Bastards) as his sharp-tongued nemesis, Elizabeth. Set in the year 1809, Neuville is to marry the naive Pauline when war breaks out, forcing him to depart for the battlefield. After not hearing from the captain for months, Pauline becomes ill with worry. Her sister Elizabeth devises a plan to write fake letters on behalf of Neuville, thinking he would never come back. But it all goes south when Neuville reappears.
“In 2011, we opened our Festival with The Artist starring Jean Dujardin. We’re proud to launch this year’s fest with Jean Dujardin’s hilarious new comedy The Return of the Hero at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, whose team is making our opening night stylish and fun, for the 4th year in a row,” commented Gregory von Hausch, President and CEO of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.
This year, in light of the recent devastation in the Florida Panhandle by Hurricane Michael, the festival will donate 50% of each full price, $12 ticket sold for the film, to United Way of Northwest Florida. The donation will be applied to relief efforts in that area, which bore the brunt of the Category 4 storm.
Venue location: The Hard Rock Event Center is located at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, FL 33014. Valet parking is available. Self-parking will be available in the Winners Way garage and Seminole Way garage.
