Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood Announces Winners of the 2023 Lucky Hearts Poker Open

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood concluded its 2023 Lucky Hearts Poker Open (LHPO) on Tuesday, Jan. 24. This was the biggest LHPO series in history with 16,320 total entries and total prize pools reaching nearly $15 million. In the headliner event, Marius Gierse of Germany bested 1,692 entries to take home $605,000, following a four-way chop.

“I really don’t enjoy live poker as much, mostly because people are too serious and take a lot of time,” Gierse said. “But that isn’t the case here at all. People play super fast, and people are talking, and not taking themselves too seriously. It’s super nice. So I’m very, very happy to play here and I will for sure come back.”
 
I’m pretty blessed,” said Gierse, “and I’m lucky to win the Lucky Hearts Poker Open.”
 
The $3,500 LHPO finale boasted a final prize pool of more than $5.4 million, easily exceeding the $2 million guarantee. The last 212 spots were paid $5,915 for a min-cash.

The 43-event LHPO kicked off on Thursday, Jan. 12 with the $600 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (NLH) opener. With 4,535 entries, the event more than doubled the $1 million guaranteed, creating a total prize pool of more than $2.3 million. Scott Woodring (Sabastian, Fla.) won the opener earning $190,939 after the final seven players agreed to a deal to end the tournament and split the remaining prize pool.
 
Other signature event winners include: 
  • Aram Oganyan (Hollywood, Calif.) winning the $25,500 High Roller NLH (Re-Entry) for $480,175
  • Aaron Flores (Chicago, Ill.) winning the $2,200 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry) for $97,935
  • Benjamin Juhasz (Budapest, Hungary) winning the $5,000 Deep Stack Pot Limit Omaha (Re-Entry) for $64,125
  • Brock Wilson (Ardsley, NY) winning the $5,000 Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em (Re-Entry) for $129,530
 
Poker Action will return to Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood with Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown April 13, 2023 – May 2, 2023, headlined by the $400 Deep Stack series opener with a $500,000 guarantee and the $3,500 WPT Poker Showdown Championship boasting a $3 million guarantee.
