HRCNI Check to Sojourner Truth House In Gary to Celebrate 25th Anniversary Walk
HARD ROCK CASINO NORTHERN INDIANA PRESENTS CHECK TO SOJOURNER TRUTH HOUSE IN GARY TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY WALK
Gary, IN (April 10, 2024) Today, Matt Schuffert, President of Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana presented Angela Paul, Executive Director of the Sojourner Truth House, with a check for $15,000. The donation includes $5,000 to fund the 25th Anniversary 1.5 mile Walk around Froebel Park and surrounding neighborhoods on Saturday on June 8. An additional $10,000 will support annual programs that provide help for homeless and at-risk women and their children in Gary, Hammond, Hobart, Lake Station, Whiting and other parts of Northwest Indiana.
According to Matt Schuffert, “Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana is committed to supporting the services that the Sojourner Truth House provides the women and children of our community including the feeding of more than 3,000 families monthly through its operation of the largest food pantry in Lake County.”
Angela Paul, Executive Director of the Sojourner Truth House and a native of Gary stated, “We are so proud to have the recognition and support of Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana as a key partner in raising awareness and funds to end homelessness and hunger for so many families facing food insecurity in Gary, IN and surrounding communities. We are also looking forward to celebrating the success of the 25th Anniversary Walk this year with Hard Rock’s leadership and the Hard Rock Casino Walk Team on Saturday, June 8.”
In addition to assisting women to find a permanent place to live, the Sojourner Truth House helps clients become Transitional Outreach Program Participants and maintain support through therapeutic programs such as basic skills, employment training, addiction and other issues.
According to Paul, “We believe that a holistic approach provides help and hope for the mind, body and spirit for those that we serve.”
