Since opening in November 2025, the property has quickly emerged as a significant contributor to the regional economy through job creation, workforce development, and direct investment in the local community and charities. Hard Rock Tejon Casino has made a difference.

By the numbers — and on the ground:

  • More than 1,100 employees hired in 2025, with approximately 80% residing in Kern County
  • 200 additional positions currently being filled across table games, slot operations, marketing, finance, and food & beverage
  • Stable, full-time employment and benefits for residents who previously faced inconsistent work
  • Defined career pathways, with employees advancing from dealer school into full-time roles and long-term careers
  • From November 10 through December 20, the casino paid out more than $35 million in jackpots, returning significant dollars directly into the local economy

Local voices, real impact:

  • Isaac Satawake, a Bakersfield native and full-time card dealer, shared that transitioning from part-time hospitality work to consistent hours and benefits has helped him regain financial stability and reduce stress heading into the holidays. He plans to pursue management opportunities in the future.
  • Lilliann Job, who returned to Bakersfield after living out of state, described the casino as a turning point after months of intensive job searching. Since entering dealer school this fall, she has secured full-time employment, is saving for a car, and is better able to support her family while serving as a front-facing ambassador for the property.

Local charitable investment:

In 2025, Hard Rock Casino Tejon contributed more than $125,000 to local organizations, including Open Door Network, CAPK, Kern Coalition Against Human Trafficking, CBCC Foundation, CALM Zoo, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County, and the Wildlands Conservancy’s Wind Wolves Preserve to name a few.

Supporting Kern County businesses:

Beyond employment, the property has prioritized working with Kern County–based vendors across pre-opening, opening, and ongoing operations.

  • Erin Paslay-Henderson, owner of Bakersfield-based eMedia Marketing Solutions, noted that the partnership has created meaningful opportunities for her agency and other local businesses. “Hard Rock’s commitment to working with local partners and giving back has made a real impact,” she said.
  • Chase Prielipp, owner of SignTek, a Kern County custom sign company, echoed that sentiment, citing steady work, clear communication, and thoughtful planning that directly supported his business and employees.

Together, these efforts position Hard Rock Casino Tejon not only as a new entertainment destination, but as a long-term partner invested in Kern County’s economic growth and community well-being.
