GEORGE THOROGOOD & THE DESTROYERS - TIMELINE:

1973                George Thorogood and the Destroyers perform first show on December 1 at Lane Hall, University of Delaware

 

1976                Band records first album in May titled George Thorogood and the Destroyers for Rounder Records

                        On July 4, Bill Blough plays first gig as bass player at JC Dobbs in Philadelphia for the Bicentennial

                        Bill Blough puts bass tracks on debut record in September

                       

1977                Rounder Records releases George Thorogood and the Destroyers in August

                        The band travels to California in the fall, plays seven sold out shows at the Boarding House in San Francisco, as the record starts to catch on around the U.S.

1978                Move It On Over is recorded in February in Boston, Massachusetts

                        Band starts first cross-country tour in April

                        Band goes to Europe for the first time in June. 

                        Photos for Move It On Over are shot

1979                Band performs on The Midnight Special

1980                Hank Carter (saxophonist) joins the band; begins a Southern tour across the U.S.

                        Band records third album, More for Rounder.

1981                Record-breaking 50/50 tour – 50 shows in 50 days (actually 51 Shows) 

                        Band hits the road for first tour in Australia

                        Band performs on American Bandstand

                        Band performs on Fridays TV Show

                        Band supports the Rolling Stones in the United States on the “Start Me Up” Tour

1982                Band records Bad To The Bone for EMI

                        Band shoots videos for “Nobody But Me” and “Bad To The Bone”

                        Band performs on Saturday Night Live

                        Band supports the Rolling Stones in Europe on the “Start Me Up” Tour

1983                Band records “Rock-n-roll Christmas” for MTV, and shoots the video

                        Band attempts “Around the World in 80 Days” tour, but was cut short due to a riot at a festival in Spain

1985                Band releases Maverick for EMI

                        Band shoots video for “I Drink Alone”. 

                        Band performs on Live Aid

                        Steve Chrismar is added on guitar

1986                Band releases Live on EMI

1988                Band releases Born To Be Bad on EMI

 

1989                George Thorogood collection released in Australia and in New Zealand

1990                Band tours with the Allman Brothers Band

                        Band performs on The Tonight Show

1991                Band releases Boogie People on EMI

1992                Band releases Baddest of George Thorogood and the Destroyers on EMI

                        Band tours with Little Feat

1993                Release of Haircut on EMI   

                        Steve Chrismar retires
