(Wheatland, Calif. – January 3, 2023) – Hard Rock Café Sacramento at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain continued their monthly “celebrity burger” program recognizing local personalities here in Northern California. For January, legendary Asian chef, Martin Yan, will be honored with a custom burger. 

Yan, born and raised in Hong Kong, has had ties to the Sacramento region for nearly 50 years. He received a Master of Science degree in food science from University of California, Davis, in 1975. He has hosted over 3,500 episodes of the PBS cooking show Yan Can Cook since 1982.  He currently hosts Martin Yan – Quick & Easy. He also hosts Martin Yan's Chinatowns, where he tours Chinatowns around the globe as well as Martin Yan's Hidden China. He has also appeared as a guest chef on television programs including Iron Chef America, Top Chef and Hell’s Kitchen.

Yan worked closely with Hard Rock Sacramento Executive Chef Ray Leung on a burger customized to his favorite flavors. The Martin Yan features a fresh 8 oz. hand-ground beef patty, a slice of Cheddar cheese, topped with grilled Shitake mushrooms, Chef Yan’s Aioli, Chef Yan’s Asian Slaw, Kim Chee, pickled Daikon and fried onion strings, all within a fresh Brioche bun. 

After a year of running this program, Hard Rock Sacramento will donate to the charity of choice to the celebrity that has the highest monthly burger sales.

“Martin Yan is such a legendary chef and was most recently recognized as the 2022 James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award winner,” explained Mark Birtha, President of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento at Fire Mountain.  “We are honored to include him in our burger program as a part of our larger series of promotions honoring Lunar New Year in January.”
