The New Jersey Chapters are fueled by the mission to save lives by providing education and support to the Garden State. As part of AFSP’s growing nationwide network of chapter, AFSP brings together people from all backgrounds who want to prevent suicide in our communities. Family and friends who have lost someone to suicide, vulnerable individuals, mental health professionals, clergy, educators, students, community/business leaders and many others energize our chapter.

The Atlantic City Police Foundation was established by current and former police officers as well as business and civic leaders as an independent, non-profit organization to improve the public safely in Atlantic City by assisting the City of Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Police Department in funding worthwhile police programs, initiatives, training and equipment that would otherwise not be feasible under the City budget.

The African American Heritage Museum Of Southern New Jersey brings to life the African American experience of the 20th Century as it documents the struggle of one group of Americans to carve their own place in the wider cultural landscape. With a permanent home in Atlantic City and a traveling museum with access to over 30,000 historical and cultural artifacts, the museum offers a unique opportunity to open a window to the mindset of successive generations of African Americans and provides an understanding to their cultural evolution.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, founded by Kathleen DiChiara in 1975, has grown from the back of a station wagon to a leading anti-hunger organization. With two warehouses, a fleet of trucks, and various wrap-around services, it now provides over 90 million meals annually and operates in Hillside and Egg Harbor Township.

Court Appointed Special Advocates

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Atlantic, Cape May, and Camden Counties and its trained volunteers speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the foster care system and are dedicated to ensuring these children are placed in safe permanent homes as quickly as possible.

Covenant House serves young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness or human trafficking with absolute respect and unconditional love. Their ultimate goal is to help each young person move on with their lives in positive ways with counseling, education, stable employment, and secure housing. Garden State Equality

Garden State Equality lifts up the diverse voices of LGBTQ+ communities through education and advocacy to advance the movement for equality in New Jersey and nationally. They work tirelessly to ensure the communities we serve experience lived equality. Garden State Equality is the largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization in New Jersey, with over 150,000 members. Established in 2004, they are now one of the most successful statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organizations in the nation.

Hansen Foundation

The Hansen Foundation embraces RECOVERY, for those who suffer from substance use disorders, their families and friends. The Hansen Foundation Residences, Serenity Estates and Serenity Houses, provide affordable, long-term, comfortable recovery residences and necessary recovery support to assist those in recovery facing overwhelming obstacles. In conjunction with the housing entity, The Hansen Foundation also operates Enlightened Farm, nonprofit organic farm cultivating a sustainable and healing environment for all, and The Hansen Foundation Resource Center offering a variety of programs to help individuals in recovery plan, create, invent, improve life skills and make things happen in their lives.

Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) encourages strong families, thriving children, healthy adults, energized seniors and vital communities. With dozens of program areas, JFS specializes in counseling, mental health services, homeless programs, vocational services, adult and older adult services and also hosts an on-site food pantry. The agency impacts 13,000 lives throughout Atlantic and Cape May Counties each year.
