MATIA BAZAR — AN ICONIC LEGACY OF ITALIAN MUSIC, CARLO MARRALE & SILVIA MEZZANOTTE

Founded in Genoa in 1975, Matia Bazar became one of the most influential, innovative and internationally celebrated groups in the history of Italian popular music. Renowned for their sophisticated compositions, distinctive sound and exceptional vocal performances, the group created an extraordinary musical legacy that continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.

Carlo Marrale, one of the original founding members, played a fundamental role in shaping the identity and success of Matia Bazar. As a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, his artistic contributions helped create some of the group’s most beloved and enduring songs, including Vacanze Romane, Per Un’Ora D’Amore and Stasera Che Sera.

In 1978, Matia Bazar achieved their first historic victory at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival with …E Dirsi Ciao, establishing themselves among the leading names in Italian music.

Over the following decades, Matia Bazar achieved national and international acclaim with unforgettable hits including Solo Tu, Ti Sento, Vacanze Romane, Per Un’Ora D’Amore, Stasera Che Sera and C’è Tutto Un Mondo Intorno.

Another remarkable chapter in the group’s history began with the arrival of Silvia Mezzanotte as lead vocalist in 1999. Her extraordinary vocal talent, emotional interpretations and commanding stage presence brought renewed artistic energy to Matia Bazar, contributing to acclaimed songs including Brivido Caldo and Questa Nostra Grande Storia d’Amore.

In 2002, Matia Bazar celebrated their second historic victory at the Sanremo Music Festival with Messaggio d’Amore, performed with Silvia Mezzanotte as lead vocalist. This prestigious achievement marked another defining milestone in the group’s extraordinary musical journey.

Carlo Marrale and Silvia Mezzanotte represent two significant chapters of the Matia Bazar legacy: Marrale as a founding member and creative force behind the group’s original identity and iconic repertoire, and Mezzanotte as the exceptional voice who helped lead the group to its second Sanremo victory.
